The Winter Solstice, the most important administrative day for the Central People’s Government, has passed. With it, the elections, the bestowing of the new MHOTS, the census, and the collection of charitable taxes. With its end, the pursuit of Sandus’s Socialist Policies and Philosophy!

Winter Solstice MMXII Elections
The Winter Solstice elections began on VII Decembro (7 December) and ended today at 22:00 SLT, Kremlum Sandus. Over the past fortnight, the Office of the Sôgmô has been receiving votes from multiple citizens upon the swearing of their new citizen’s oaths. Though Sandum citizens from the Palaso d’Etato have continued their trend of not voting, voter turn-out is up from last Winter: from 29% in MMXI (2011) to 57% in MMXII (2012). Of all citizens who voted, all of them (100%) voted in favour of the Sôgmô’s continued legitimacy to rule the State of Sandus. If the majority of votes cast would have been against the Sôgmô’s legitimacy, the Sôgmô would have had to place restrictions on his absolute rule, abdicate, or, even, proclaim the establishment of a democratic republic, as specified in the Law on the Democratic Election of the S8gm8.
The Honourable Sôgmô has won the election with 100% of the votes cast (57% of the total population).
Let’s advance the State under one more year of the Sôgmô’s reign!

Census & Taxes
Due to the Sôgmô’s schedule, the Census has not been updated for the most part. One change made to the Census today was the re-specifying of James Thompson from peregro citizen to his recently affirmed status of civilo citizen, since his return from leave earlier this month. The Census was also changed to accommodate the new cooperatives the citizens are a part of. Work on the census shall continue tomorrow and shall be completed by the end of the Saturnalia. The citizens’ information shall be re-affirmed and corrected so as to remain up-to-date.
Sandus has seen an explosion of charitable taxes. All Sandum citizens have met their tax goals for the past Autumn quarter; all goals on FreeRice.com have been met and other charitable work has been successful. Completing the MMXII Census tax sheet, all Sandum citizens have made over 43,000 grains to charity, have raised over $250 USD for charity, completed more than a few days worth of volunteering, and have donated furniture and clothes to charity. Although the State of Sandus is a united front of adolescents and inactive adult-citizens, the majority of adolescents having no job or source of income, Sandus is pushing forward our Sandum Value with these taxes and helping to end suffering by our collective compassionate efforts!

The Most Honourable Order of the Throne of Sandus
As is customary on this day, it is the duty of the Sôgmô, as fount of honour in the State and as Sovereign of the MHOTS, to award the distinction of the Order upon one individual. This particular individual has been honour-bound in the State and, despite wishing to be gone from micronationalism, has remained in the State out of his sense of duty to friends and to the State. This individual’s dedication to the State has wavered from time-to-time, but he has — like a good human — found his duty amongst his oath as a citizen and has pursued the Sandum philosophy for the betterment of the individual, for the advancement of the society, and for the destruction of suffering. This individual currently is a member of the MHOTS and is the leader of his own cooperative in the State: Ixstrum Records.
As Sôgmô of the State, Fount of Honour, and Sovereign of the Most Honourable Order of the Throne of Sandus, I am proud to bestow the decoration of Commander Class of the Order upon André Sammut, faithful Sandum citizen.
May all take heed of Citizen Sammut’s dedication to our State: his spirit has wavered for it, but his sense of duty has urged him on!
